    hearty breakfast
    clean room
    limited pub options
    small room
    early bar closing

Quaint charm filled my stay, with a lovely and hearty breakfast featuring fresh ingredients, including delicious local black pudding. The room, though small, was clean and equipped with everything needed for a restful night. A drawback was the absence of nearby pubs, limiting evening options, and the bar closed early, which felt restrictive. Despite this, the friendly atmosphere was welcoming, making it a good place for hikers venturing into the splendid nearby countryside.

    friendly staff
    great breakfast
    secure parking
    poor tv reception

Had an amazing time with friends! We enjoyed walks along the River Tees and explored nearby waterfalls. The staff were super friendly, and the breakfast was top-notch with local produce. The secure parking was a plus for our group, and we loved the laid-back vibe of the bar. Definitely recommend this spot for a fun getaway.

My only downside was the lack of a good TV in the single room—it didn't work well and could use an upgrade.

the location was ideal for what we wanted and the staff were super friendly, they made us feel welcome right away. plus, the food was really delicious, especially the breakfast! the room was clean and comfy, even if it was a bit outdated. enjoyed chillin by the log fire in the bar area, very cozy!

however, our bathroom had some issues like rust and the taps were loose, which was kinda annoying. also the room felt tired and needs a bit of a refresh.

It was just a well-suited match for a weekend stopover in Middleton in Teesdale with reasonable price. Enjoyed a fantastic local steak pie with a well-kept Yorkshire ale. Keep an eye on busy times at the bar to avoid waiting too long.

I stayed in a Small Single Room and was pleasantly surprised by how tastefully decorated it was. It felt luxurious yet affordable. The bed was really comfy, and the attention to detail made it feel special. The only downside was that it was a bit on the small side, but for a solo traveler like me, it worked just fine.
